Senior Town Planners

  • x1 permanent full time and x1 12 month full time maternity leave position available, 35 hours per week
  • Salary range from $1,954.00 - $2,115.10 per week +11% superannuation

About the role:

The Development Assessment Team within the City Development Division play a key role in assisting and navigating customers through the ever increasing complexities of the planning world. With a place based focus, these teams aim to deliver superior frontline customer service in the assessment, processing and determination of a range of development and subdivision applications throughout the local government area. 

Reporting to the Coordinator Development Assessment, these are exciting and challenging roles assessing the development applications that will shape the future of Campbelltown.

We are currently seeking experienced Senior Town Planners, in this role you will be responsible for:

  • Assessing and providing recommendations for a wide variety of development applications in both urban and greenfield settings for determination under delegation or via a planning panel.  
  • Managing the expectations of developers associated with a range of complex development applications within a greenfield/urban release area environment.
  • Preparing Statement of Facts and Contentions/Expert Witness reports for the Land and Environment Court.
  • Working effectively with people at all levels and to represent Council capably to developers, consultants, other government agencies and the general public.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in urban development, town planning or civil engineering would be highly regarded.
  • Extensive knowledge of town planning concepts, urban design principles and regulatory frameworks.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, organisational and time management skills.
  • Computer literacy and excellent report writing skills.
  • Effective analytical and innovative problem solving skills and a highly developed ability to interpret relevant legislation.
