The Opportunity
Reporting to the Underground Mining Superintendent, we are currently seeking a Senior Underground Mining Engineer to support our Rosemont Underground Mining operation. Working closely with our Underground Mining contractor Barminco, this is a key role responsible for providing high level technical advice, mine planning, design, scheduling and costing input and direction for the operation.
This is a FIFO role, working on an 8:6 roster.
About the Role
- Short to medium term mine planning activities;
- Monitoring progress against plan / budget and reporting significant deviations;
- Examining mining methods and equipment to improve performance;
- Overseeing and approving drill and blast plans;
- Monitoring, and simulation of, mine ventilation and dewatering network;
- Supervising the activities of lesser experienced Mining Engineers and other technical staff.
- Ensuring development and infrastructure designs are practical and cost effective;
- Develop and maintain electronic and other filing systems for mine planning design and construction; and
- Conduct project work as directed by the Underground Mining Manager or General Manager as required.
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering;
- Over 7 years Underground Mining operational experience in an underground hard rock environment;
- WA First class mine manager’s certificate of competency (preferred but no essential);
- Advanced computer skills required for mine planning, D&B, scheduling, e.g. Surpac, Deswik; and
- Current WA class C manual drivers licence.
