As a Senior Wildlife Officer, you will be required to coordinate operational business and lead the Remote Operations team of Wildlife Officers in wildlife responses, projects and compliance and to coordinate ongoing and emerging stakeholder relationships, building and fostering Traditional knowledge and culture within the workplace. The Senior Wildlife Officer role advertised is part of the Remote Operations team.
The team operates in Far North Queensland to deliver services to conserve and protect native and threatened wildlife and associated habitat—with particular focus on:
- regulation of the Nature Conservation Act to deliver protected wildlife compliance and enforcement
- providing safe interaction between people and wildlife
- working with the community to build positive interactions between community and wildlife
- applied research to assist in the development of innovative wildlife management strategies
- Extensive experience in contemporary wildlife management and conservation.
- Possess knowledge of wildlife management principles and human-wildlife conflict.
- Experience with crocodiles, cassowaries, flying foxes.
- Considerable experience managing operational staff.
