Therefore, we are excited to invite applications for a full time Service Manager to join the team.
Our Service Managers operate multiple train services to meet business and customer requirements whilst leading and mentoring a team of Service Planners, maintaining safety, encouraging a positive culture, ensuring efficiency, and ensuring compliance to Company policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Check all data/information for accuracy and complete cross check for 72 hours in advance prior to release.
- Work closely with customers to forecast operational requirements to develop an operational plan.
- Develop strong customer relationships by exceeding customer expectations by ensuring clear and timely communications and reliable and safe train services.
- Efficiently manage labour resources including:
- Assess, recommend, and plan training requirements.
- Assess, predict and plan for future labour requirements.
- Manage the efficiency of the train crew (undertime/overtime/standalone overtime).
- Provide feedback and implement performance management as required. - Efficiently manage rollingstock to ensure availability for services.
- Interface with all operations business units to ensure cohesion and department efficiency.
- Provide operational performance reports and recommendations to the Operations General Managers.
- Ensure the planning team are actively promoting and compliant to all organisational procedures and policies.
- Identify, develop, and implement systems, processes and strategic opportunities that continuously improve the organisation.
- Lead others in the planning team to develop a continuous improvement culture.
- Mentor other members of the planning team to ensure their professional development and align their personal goals and values with the organisation.
- Ensure all members of the planning team operate efficiently within the approved framework and they are achieving their designated responsibilities and accountabilities.
- Lead management meetings when required to set objectives and ensure all outcomes are achieved.
- Ensure all business procedures are followed and liaise with all relevant stakeholders in the event of any significant rail incident.
- Allocate and roster required training for train crew and other personnel via the training register.
- Arrange maintenance of locomotives & wagons with the relevant maintenance personnel.
- Perform other tasks, including duties of lower levels as required and directed.
- Interface with other departments as required and or lead other departments if directed.
- Participate in the health checks and other meetings as required.
- Manage and rectify live issues with train services as and when required.
- Report any issues with equipment being used to appropriate personnel and treat all business assets with respect and care.
- Ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with WIMs, Company policy, procedures and in line with the Company values, and/or applicable industrial instruments.
- Actively participate in training programs as required (internal and external).
- Provide other staff with assistance as directed or if required to enable that staff member to complete their tasks safely and to maintain quality.
- Commitment to a safety culture.
- Ability to coach, guide, and mentor others in the business group.
The successful applicant must demonstrate the following:
- Rail Industry experience in a similar position
- Previous experience in train crew management, rostering and coordination
- Ability to solve and rectify live issues with train services
- Proven leadership and mentoring experience
- Commitment to a safety culture, and have a can-do customer focus
- Professionalism, integrity, reliability and a positive attitude
- Ability to work both, autonomously and in a team environment
- Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain one
This position offers the ability to work remotely from home (for the right candidate) or based out of our Head Office located in Bendigo Victoria.
