Position Title: Project Manager - Peer RelationshipsEducation Partners 

Classification: Align to Allied Health Professionals 

Time Fraction: Full time – Morwell VIC 

Reports To: CEO

Key Relationships: Internal staff, clients, and external stakeholders and members of the Community

Location: Based at the Multidisciplinary Centre31-41 Buckley Street, Morwell 3840 with flexibility to work across all GCASA locations and work from home as required

The Agency 

Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assault (GCASA) is funded by the Department of Social Services & Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, Victoria. GCASA is an Incorporated Association, governed by a community-based Board and is funded to provide comprehensive sexual assault support services and sexually abusive treatment services across the Gippsland Region, which extends from Bunyip River to the NSW border at Mallacoota, and from the Great Divide to the sea, including Phillip Island. The primary office is in Morwell with an additional office located at Bairnsdale, Warragul, and Wonthaggi (by appointment). Outreach sessions are offered in Orbost and Sale. 

The Agency operates within a framework that actively supports the protection of the rights, integrity, autonomy and dignity of women, men and children who have experienced recent or past sexual assault. GCASA is culturally inclusive and encourages the employment from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and the LGBTIQ+ and cultural community. 

The Agency provides support to their families, carers and other support networks that may include information, resources, counselling, and group work. The Agency provides consultancy and professional training for other workers to increase professional knowledge about the incidence, causes and effects of sexual assault, and to develop skills in responding sensitively to people’s needs and concerns. The Agency provides assessment and treatment for children demonstrating problematic sexual behaviour and to young people who are demonstrating harmful sexual behaviour.  

GCASA works within the broader community to reduce the incidence of sexual assault and to improve general understanding and appropriate response. Community development activities to promote social inclusion within and across marginalised groups are an integral part of the organisation’s mandate. 

Your Agency Relationships 

Reporting relationship 

The Project Manager - Peer Relationship Education Partners is accountable to the CEO and the Board of Governance, for conduct of all work, through supervision, periodic reviews, Agency meetings and other activities.  

Relationships with other staff  

The Project Manager - Peer Relationship Education Partners will develop and maintain co-operative working relationships with all staff of the Agency to achieve organisational objectives.

GCASA will ensure that staff are appropriately credentialled and have a defined scope of practice. Staff must provide the following original documentation, or a certified copy, prior to appointment. All staff are required to maintain their registration and credentialling requirements for the period of their employment.

Position Role and Function: 

Reporting to CEO, the Project Manager - Peer Relationship Education Partners will lead, guide and manage the overall delivery and all aspects of the Peer Relationship Education Partners Project over the next three years.  

This role will have the following direct reports within their portfolio: 

Guidance and management of Program Coordinator – Peer Relationship Education Partners 

Guidance and overall management of the Peer Educators  

Guidance and support to key stakeholders and all Project partners. 

Responsibilities  

Lead the development and manage annual program of community engagement activities to increase awareness of Peer Relationship Education Partner rights-based and client focused services. 

Facilitate opportunities to raise prevention of sexual harm, and awareness education with young people and adults living with an intellectual and psychosocial disability through planned sessions, events, workshops, presentations and forums.  

Support the Project Coordinator and Peer Educators by collaborating with participants with an intellectual and psychosocial disability.  This project will  support parents and carers from all backgrounds through guided social development and topics aimed at empowering them to understand key concepts.  These concepts include  consent, drivers of sexual violence and other forms of abuse. 

This role will lead the development with stakeholders a protective framework to reduce prevalence of violence and sexual harm within the people with a cognitive disability. 

Facilitate the engagement of stakeholders including all valued partners in human-centred design and delivery of the project and prevention activities, including working with Federation University Collaborative Evaluation Research Centre (CERC) to achieve outcomes and produce educational resources including sustainable resources, videos, curriculum and mechanisms for storytelling and sense-making processes.  

Ensuring implementation of policies and practices to ensure all aspects of child & adult safety compliance is evident. 

Maintain and report on all aspects of budget and tracking expenditures/transactions.  

Develop and maintain an extensive contact list including participants, community, and sector stakeholders, accurately captured to enable accurate reports to meet funding service level requirements.  

Successful delivery of all aspects of the Workplan and performance reporting in a timely manner to meet service funding requirements.

Key Selection Criteria   

Qualifications: Degree level qualification or equivalent certification from a nationally accredited provider in social work, community development, or relevant qualifications. 

Demonstrated experience working with young people and adults with a lived experience of disability and within the community sector. 

Demonstrated capacity to identify where intervention skills may be necessary for supporting people who may present at risk to the project or vulnerable through the identification of referral pathways and wrap-around services. 

Excellent skills in building key stakeholder relationships collaborating with other young people with  intellectual disability, professionals and agencies to enhance wellbeing and safety for clients, with an agile, creative, and problem-solving approach. 

Working knowledge in the application of relevant legislation and professional guidelines (including privacy requirements, children and young people at risk, and relevant professional Code of Ethics and Practice Standards, and privacy requirements). 

Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills, including an initiative-taking and constructive approach to the delivery of commitments, and building trust and rapport with  participants, colleagues and leadership. 

Demonstrated commitment to professional development and education, and experience in supporting clinicians to work within frameworks of current and evidence based therapeutic interventions.
