Redland City Council is a progressive local government organisation, situated on the naturally wonderful Redlands Coast, near Brisbane. Home to the crystal blue waters of Southern Moreton Bay, with approximately 335km of coastline, beautiful hinterland and coastal villages, the region enjoys a strong heritage, connections to the oldest living culture on Earth, and island gems just a short hop from Queensland's capital city. With Redlands Coast having a current population of almost 160,000 and strong population growth forecasts, the Council is forward-thinking, engaged and focussed on enriching community lifestyles by operating under the four principles of sustainability and balancing decisions through consideration of environmental, community, economic and governance impacts.
Reporting to the Executive Group Manager People, Culture and Organisational Performance, you will be the technical and strategic expert, leader and advisor in relation to Council's industrial and employment relations compliance and workplace governance. Additionally, you will lead and guide Council's multidisciplinary People Solutions team to deliver successful day-to-day outcomes regarding strategic, governance and technical business-as-usual advice throughout the employment lifecycle. This will include all industrial and employment relations, payroll and data analytics matters in compliance with applicable State and Federal legislation and relevant Redland City Council policies, guidelines and procedures.
Council is not looking for an everyday IR/ER practitioner! To be successful in this role you will have demonstrable experience overseeing and participating in the provision of relevant advisory services at a high level that is consistent and measured in approach and provides an elevated level of investigative responsibility. You must be discreet and diplomatic as this role manages all Commission appearances, CCC referrals, a wide array of investigations, and ER/EB negotiations and interpretation.
To apply for this role, you will require a tertiary qualification relevant to this position (eg industrial relations, employee relations, or similar field). Local Government experience would be looked upon favourably but is not essential, however you will have proven experience being the ongoing custodian of an organisation's IR/ER processes, policies and procedures, and responsible for their update when required. Redland City Council will strongly support the ongoing professional development of the successful applicant in this 12-month contract position.
This is an exceptional prospect for a driven, focused IR/ER specialist who can roll up their sleeves and take a holistic view of the strategic direction for their team and the organisation. It's a perfect opportunity to provide genuine influence on the ongoing development and continuous improvement of a Council committed to the long-term future of its residents and communities.
