2024 is an exciting year for higher education in Sydney, Australia. Navitas and Charles Sturt University have partnered to launch the Charles Sturt University Sydney campus, located in the heart of North Sydney, offering students an engaging and exceptional student experience. This dynamic partnership brings together two leading education providers to create a vibrant tertiary experience.  
 
Introduction of the role: 

Charles Sturt University Sydney delivers a Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Business (specialising in Finance and Marketing), and Master of Professional Accounting from our Sydney Campus located at 77 Berry St, North Sydney.  

We seek sessional Business and/or Accounting Lecturers passionate about their field and teaching the next generation of professionals.  

Term 2/2024 commences 8 July 2024, but the timetable is not yet finalised, so interested candidates will need to be available in person, on campus during business hours once timings are finalised. 

Sessional work involves: 

  • Teaching either Bachelor (AQF 7) or Master (AQF 9) level subjects, with guidance from permanent Charles Sturt University academic staff 
  • Delivering classes onsite, in-person, including lectures, tutorials and intensive workshops 
  • Engaging with students through the Brightspace learning management system (LMS) or face-to-face as required 
  • Marking assignments and performing administrative tasks associated with the classes. 
  • Participating in formal professional development and academic scholarly activities designed to enhance teaching practice. Reflect on teaching and learning practice and utilise student and peer feedback to improve teaching practice. 

Teaching areas required: 

Bachelor level: Financial Accounting and Reporting (Accounting, Financial Reporting & Financial Literacy), Business Economics, Data Analytics for Business, Human Resource Management, Employability Skills and Workplace Technology 

Masters level - Financial Reporting and Compliance (Communicating Accounting, Accounting Standards, Application and Disclosures, Data analysis for financial decision making), Business and Corporations Law, Economics for Business and Australian Business and its role in the Global Economy. 

Applicants need to meet the following essential criteria 

  • A Master degree for Bachelor level or Ph.D. for Masters level teaching in one (or more) of the areas of Business and/or Accounting listed above 
  • Previous teaching experience, preferably at university level 
  • Proven ability to teach and assess students effectively. 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills 
  • Effective classroom management and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Commitment to promoting diversity and equity in education.
