ACAP is seeking dedicated sessional Criminology Educators who are passionate about their field and teaching the next generation of professionals.
Sessionals teach undergraduate programs (AQF 7), with guidance from permanent academic staff.
We are seeking experts in one or more of the following subject matters;
- Academic skills
- Introductory criminal justice
- Comparative criminology
- Crime and the media
- Drugs and crime
Sessional work involves;
- Teaching classes including lectures and tutorials, and engaging with students through online forums
- Marking assignments and performing administrative tasks associated with the classes
- Responding to student enquiries and providing advice as required
- Teaching from our Melbourne campus, located at 222 Bourke Street, and online via Zoom
- Part time for a specific period, 13 weeks per semester, with the opportunity in exceptional circumstances, to assume the role of Unit Coordinator.
The candidates we seek will ideally have;
- Experience teaching in a tertiary education institution, including online
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships at all levels across the College
- Scholarly and industry expertise
- Passion and motivation to empower students in their academic and professional journeys
- Availability to teach on-campus on Mondays or Tuesdays during business hours (on-campus classes are scheduled from 9.00am-12.00pm and 1.00-4.00pm AEDT/AEST), and/or online Wednesdays or Thursdays after business hours (online tutorials are scheduled from 5.00-8.30pm AEDT/AEST)
Essential qualifications for candidates include;
- A Criminology qualification or a qualification from an appropriate cognate discipline, at least a Masters
- Experience teaching in a tertiary education institution, including online
