Role:
A rare and exciting opportunity has become available for a Shift Electrician. Reporting to the Electrical and Fixed Plant Foreman, the Shift Electrician’s role is to provide Electrical support to the Mine’s underground operations, Processing Mill, and other surface areas as required.
Roster: 7:7 rotating, Wednesdays to Tuesdays
Hours: Day Shift: 7am – 7pm; Night Shift: 7pm to 7am
Tasks and Responsibilities
As a Shift Electrician, you will be part of a team who maintain the Electrical and Fixed plant on the Surface, in the Process Plant and in the Underground mine at the Ballarat Gold Mine.
We invite candidates with proven experience in a similar role within the mining and/or heavy industrial environment(s).
As a Shift Electrician your duties will include but not limited to:
- Work with the Processing Manager and Mill Foreman with regards to the Processing Mill operation.
- Assist in the Process Plant where required for SCADA/PLC issues.
- Work with the Mining Manager and Mine Foreman regarding the Underground operations.
- Electrical fault finding and response to break downs.
- High level of organisation and planning skills and an ability to meet deadlines whilst managing multiple functions simultaneously.
- Maintaining statutory checks and compliance to relevant national and state regulations.
- Provide technical expertise in the electrical and fixed plant field where required.
- Installation, maintenance, and termination of 1000V electrical equipment.

Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate a high regard for safety, effective communication skills and the ability to work with minimal direct supervision in a small team environment. You will have an A-Grade Electrical license and 5 years’ experience in mining and/or heavy industrial minimum).
You will also possess:
- Excellent safety awareness and commitment.
- Demonstrated exposure to heavy industrial work.
- Experience on Tamrock drill rigs, underground leaky feeder systems, pumping systems, and a high level of fault-finding skills.
- High Voltage Operator experience.
Preferred/Desirable
- HV Operator Completed Course (Access Permit Recipient, Operator).
- Competent with RS Logix 5000, RS View, RS Linx, Device Net, and Instrumentation.
- Level 2 First Aid (current)
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.
- Work well with other departments to achieve targets.
- Display integrity, honesty, and accountability.
- Capable of engaging with a wide range of people.
