Shine Bright EYM Social Worker
Start: Immediate interview for Term 2 start.
Full-Time Ongoing position
Based in Bendigo with travel to regional Victoria.
The position will increase staff capability and confidence in working with challenging behaviours by identifying and implementing skills and strategies that are intentionally supported and used.
This position will be responsible for implementing creative interventions, including Art Therapy, that contribute to the emotional, social, and psychological well-being and self-regulation of Shine Bright staff, children, families, and communities.
The Social Worker will also provide wellbeing support and critical incident debriefing in consultation with the Allied Health Co-ordinator.

Shine Bright EYM core purpose is to foster a healthy and active early childhood community working together to provide quality education and care for young children. Each kindergarten has an Educational Leader supported by a team comprised of Bachelor, Diploma and/or Certificate 3 Qualified Staff. We also have a designated Early Years Advisor (Bachelor Trained and Experienced) for each kindergarten who actively supports the staff through regular visits.
Key Responsibilities - Under the direction of the Allied Health Coordinator:
- Communicate with all team members and relevant management to achieve the Shine Bright Way, Vision, Mission, Strategic Goals and the School Readiness Plans of the organisation.
- Discuss, identify and implement interventions to meet the wellbeing needs and work priorities.
- Upskill staff to increase their capability and confidence in working with challenging behaviours displayed by children.
- Timely provision of wellbeing support and critical incident debriefing for staff following an event or incident.
- Contribute to the success of Shine Bright as a leading early childhood education and care provider.
- Support culture of continuous improvement and research-based evidence.
- Effective prioritisation of projects and meeting of timelines.
- Keep an updated calendar of activities undertaken and time allocation at services.
- To achieve the following evidence-based outcomes:
- Staff wellbeing, staff will be effective in their positions,
- Increase children’s engagement in educational programs,
- Staff incorporate new strategies into their practice to support children’s executive function with a focus on self-regulation, and
- Staff are able to provide families with strategies to support their child’s social and emotional skills development at home.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Social Work.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to work with people and young children.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to use a variety of creative interventions to achieve goals.
- Proven ability to inspire trust and provide an open atmosphere that encourages learning and participation.
- Highly resourceful team player with the ability to work independently.
- Current Working with Children Check and Police Check
- Hold a Victorian Driver’s License.
