With more than 1,800 employees across 39 locations, we all work towards our common goal to link the nation and keep Australia moving. As the rail industry undergoes significant transformation, we’ve invested billions of dollars to build, expand and modernise our network to get freight off the road and onto rail, and we’re not stopping. That’s good for our customers, motorists, the environment, and communities.
About the Division / Team
Our Hunter Valley network primarily services the Hunter Valley coal chain – the world’s largest thermal coal export operation – by providing an efficient and reliable rail transportation system between mines and the Port of Newcastle. We manage the movement of around 250 trains per day on our network. Around half of these being coal trains and the other half comprised of passenger services, as well as grain, general intermodal, and other bulk freight trains.
