Growth opportunity exist for a Fibre Optic Communications Specialist to join our specialist team in Melbourne.
The primary responsibility of the role is to lead and advance the design, implementation, and optimisation of FIBRE OPTIC COMMUNICATION systems, with a particular focus on Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology.
The Senior Engineer will play a pivotal role in developing innovative fibre network designs, ensuring alignment with project objectives and customer requirements.
Additionally, provide technical leadership and expertise throughout all phases of project execution, from conceptualization to deployment.

Responsibilities
- Develop and present cutting-edge FIBRE OPTIC network designs, emphasising DWDM technology, to clients and stakeholders
- Generate detailed design documentation and testing procedures in accordance with industry standards and customer requirements, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise fibre network architectures, topologies, and configurations, with a focus on efficiency and performance
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering knowledge transfer and skill development in FIBRE OPTICs and DWDM technologies
- Actively engage with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs, address concerns, and deliver solutions that exceed expectations
- Lead design review discussions and negotiations, proactively resolving technical challenges and ensuring alignment with project objectives
- Continuously evaluate and enhance FIBRE OPTIC design and deployment processes to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards
- Deliver high-quality FIBRE OPTIC network designs, leveraging DWDM technology, to meet and exceed client expectations, resulting in enhanced customer satisfaction and retention
- Ensure the creation of accurate and comprehensive design documentation and testing procedures, minimising errors and defects during deployment and integration phases
- Provide expert guidance on FIBRE OPTIC service contracts and projects, facilitating knowledge transfer and skill development among team members
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize FIBRE OPTIC design and deployment processes, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness
- More than 5 years’ experience in FIBRE OPTIC systems design, implementation, and optimisation, with a focus on DWDM technology
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting FIBRE OPTIC networks, including knowledge of SDH/PDH and related protocols
- Strong understanding of related telecommunications Transmission technologies, including Microwave Radio and IP
- Experience in Nokia DWDM, OTN X-Tran, Avara PDH
- CCNA or equivalent certification in telecommunications networking
- Familiarity with quality assurance principles and standards, such as ISO9000 series
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Proficiency in relevant software tools, including MS Visio, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Stakeholder management experience – internal / external
- Knowledge of IP, MPLS, and related protocols
- CCNP certification or equivalent
- Experience with GE Small world and network equipment from Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia
- Knowledge of security technologies, including Juniper SRX and Palo Alto firewall systems
- Familiarity with telecommunications standards, such as ACA, ITU-T, and CCITT
- ACA Cabling Accreditation.
