About the role:
We're currently seeking to engage a new Senior Media & Communications Advisor to join our high performing corporate affairs team. As a media and communications expert, you will lead Jemena and Zinfra's proactive media program across broadcast, print, trade, and other media outlets.
As a seasoned communications practitioner, you will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and will be able to develop and deliver communications materials for use across a range of owned and earned media channels (eg. speeches, social media posts, media releases, briefings, question and answer documents, videos / multi-media materials, and other materials as required). You will also be capable of working with and influencing a broad range of stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Media engagement: You will be setting and delivering the Group's media engagement strategy and managing the media reporting program.
- Business partnering and communications planning: You will be developing, implementing, and evaluating communications and issues management plans/strategies in support of activity across the Group's networks businesses, Zinfra, and other business units as directed. Plans/strategies should be applicable across both internal and external communications channels.
- Reactive media management: In collaboration with the Group Communications Manager, the role will manage the Group's response to reactive media enquiries and issues by developing approved media holding lines, preparing spokespeople for interview, and acting as a company spokesperson. The role will also participate in the on-call media roster.
- Issues management: The Senior Media and Communications Advisor willwork with the Group Communications Manager to develop communications plans and strategies in response to identified and potential business risks and issues.
- Emergency and crisis communications response and preparedness: The role will lead preparedness activities in support of the Group's Crisis and Emergency Communications Plan and other Emergency and Crisis Management structures and programs. The role will also take carriage of Business Continuity Planning preparedness on behalf of Corporate Affairs. At the direction of the Group Communications Manager, the role will also support activations of the Group's emergency and crisis management frameworks.
- Media training: The role will be responsible for developing and delivering the Group's media training program.
To be selected for the shortlist your resume will need to highlight a tertiary qualification in communications, journalism or a related field along-side substantial experience in a communications role where you have been developing, implementing, and evaluating communications strategies in support of key business priorities and initiatives. Ideally with exposure to the energy and or infrastructure industry.
Please also highlight experience with:
- Media liaison and engagement alongside experience directly pitching and securing positive media coverage. Experience as a media spokesperson across print and broadcast, alongside media coaching experience will also be highly valued.
- Issues and emergency management experience in response to a broad range of reputational and/or operational issues and emergencies.
- Developing communications materials and tactics including speeches, social media content, media releases, briefings and other artefacts as required.
