AddressOpening June 2024 – The Independent will raise the bar in airport dining, and push customer expectations to a new level at Brisbane Airport in what we believe is the most exciting dining concept at Australian airports today.
The kitchen menu of The Independent will rotate up to 2 -3 times a year showcasing collaborative menus created by some of the most well-known chefs from around Australia. Our first chef to showcase is an icon of the Australian dining scene, Luke Mangan (OAM).
Job Description
ALL about the role:
- As the Snr Sous Chef heading up the kitchen team of The Independent you will report to the Airports Executive Chef, you will be a part of our huge multi-venue operation consisting of 10 Venues located at Brisbane Airport employing over 250 team members and 55 chefs.
- Manage, inspire, and lead a team to create an outstanding dining experience for our guests delivering consistent, high-quality food and an exceptional dining experience.
- Create a food-safe environment by adhering, enforcing our Food Safety Program
- Have a genuine passion for what you do, keeping up to date with Australian and International food trends, resulting in innovative menu development
- Developing positive customer relations through interacting with our guests and being the face of the kitchen through extensive marketing campaigns
- Coaching and developing your team to succeed professionally via regular 1:1 meetings, personal development plans, appraisals, training, and reward and recognition programs
Qualifications
ALL about you:
- A progressive, creative professional who remains pragmatic and focused in an ever-changing and challenging fast-paced environment
- A culinary artist with an established background in delivering an exceptional dining experience
- You will have a fun attitude and a generous approach to developing your team
- An experienced Sous Chef or similar role as a senior chef (minimum of 12 months experience in a similar role), preferably with knowledge of the Cafe, Restaurant & retail sector environments
- Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude
- A proven ability to motivate and train successful teams
