An exciting opportunity exists for a Social Worker interested in Mental Health and in being a member of a dynamic team of Social Workers at Macquarie Hospital. The position is for a full time Social Worker (Level 1/2) for twelve months. New graduates in Social Work very welcome to apply.

Where you'll be working
Macquarie hospital is a 190 bed psychiatric hospital at North Ryde. The successful applicant will be a member of a Multidisciplinary team helping to integrate consumers into the community.

What you'll be doing

Working as a member of a Multidisciplinary team providing ongoing assessments, counselling and education for carers, attending Mental Health Act and Guardianship Hearings, NDIS Applications, Discharge /Transition plans, working to implement Pathways to Community Living (PCLI).

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
2. Social Work degree and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), including the ability to demonstrate a practical application of the AASW Code of Ethics.
3. Proven ability to work independently and to establish effectively collaboratively working relationships within a multi-disciplinary team and interagency networks.
4. Demonstrated well developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
5. Demonstrate skills and knowledge in the provision of service to consumers, carers and families requiring assessment, counselling, crisis management, case management, advocacy, intervention, appropriate referral and discharge planning.
6. Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage workload demands, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required).
7. Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use health information systems.
8. Current NSW Driver’s Licence.
