Job Opportunity: Child and Youth Mental Health Clinician
Primary Objective:
We are seeking a dedicated individual who is interested in a Child and Youth Mental Health Clinician position. The primary objective of this role is to deliver high-quality mental health services to children and young people with serious emotional and behavioural difficulties. This includes conducting mental health assessments and providing evidence-based interventions across a diverse population.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilise expertise as a mental health clinician within a Child and Youth Mental Health Team and multidisciplinary mental health settings.
- Manage a complex caseload of children and youth, providing assessment, clinical interventions, and case management.
- Support the enhancement of community-based service distribution, aligning with Department of Health and national mental health reform directives.
- Implement clinical guidelines and standards relevant to child and youth mental health services.
- Contribute to the development of contemporary care models within Mental Health Central Australia.
- Engage in research and quality evaluation activities at the program or professional network level.
- Uphold high standards in report writing, electronic record keeping, and service delivery quality assurance.
- Adhere to service quality standards and workplace safety policies to ensure high-quality and safe service delivery.
- Cultivate a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership and role-modeling.
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
- Accreditation with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or eligibility as a qualified Social Worker for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Recent clinical experience in mental health assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for children, adolescents, and families.
- Effective communication skills with clients, carers, and professionals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Knowledge of current issues, standards, and trends in mental health service delivery.
- Proficiency in preparing high-standard written reports and completing clinical documentation promptly.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable:
- Postgraduate qualifications in mental health, preferably with child and adolescent mental health training.
- Previous experience within a child and adolescent mental health service.
