Social Work Grade 2 Women's and Children's Permanent full time (monthly ADO) 80 hours per fortnight
About the role The Social Work team provides patients with additional support to improve psychological and social functioning and we ensure each patients social, emotional and cultural needs are met. We minimise the negative impacts of illness and hospitalisation on patients. We are a dynamic and innovative group of 30 plus Social Workers who are always willing to share knowledge and peer support.
There are regular department in-services, external professional development opportunities, you are able to access study leave for higher education. There are many opportunities to develop your career and knowledge.
Key Responsibilities This position is responsible for Social Work services to the areas of Women's and Children's health (Paediatrics and integrated family services program, pregnancy care) at the Ballarat Base site, but will also require flexibility into other clinical areas. You should be skilled in comprehensive psychosocial and risk assessments, and interest in working with children at risk, family violence, AOD, mental health and have an excellent working knowledge of the Child Protection and Family Violence response system (MARAM alignment). You will be aiming to make a difference to patients, families and teams. As the successful applicant you will have experience and competency in grief and bereavement support, care planning, decision making, liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
Skills and experience
Ability to adapt, be flexible and learn quickly
Conducting comprehensive clinical assessments (including risk assessments for vulnerable children and adults)
Ability to work within a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining a professional manner
Ability to plan and problem solve
Demonstrate sound knowledge in Social Work theory and practice skills
Working knowledge of Acute hospital systems and resources
