Dakabin State High School requires a dynamic team member in the form of an Identified Social Worker to operate as a Social Worker within the school, enact the strategic direction with regards to Indigenous students and also enact the strategic direction of the school community on a wider scale. This is a temporary full-time position until 13 December 2024, unless otherwise determined.
About the School:
Dakabin State High School is a large secondary school situated in Dakabin, Queensland, committed to providing safe, inclusive and supportive environments for all students. We are a co-educational school of approximately 1000 students. The school was established in 1978 and is located on the northern side of Brisbane approximately 30 kilometres from the CBD.
Your Role:
Your role would include:
- Providing Social Work services to all students within the school and collaborating on a larger scale with the Student Wellbeing Team.
- Case Management of students triaged by the Guidance Officers.
- Working with the Indigenous Community with regards to organisation of Indigenous Events within the school and liaising and supporting our Indigenous families.
Responsibilities include:
- Respond to the needs of the student population and school community to provide personal and family counselling, therapy and group work, facilitation of referrals to other allied health professionals, and service and care coordination for the purpose of assisting student's wellbeing and mental health.
- Undertake the day to day collaboration with the Student Wellbeing Team regarding reactive and proactive support to the students of Dakabin State High School.
- Co-ordinate the creation and maintenance of procedures and documentation relating to Indigenous support and achievement of school targets.
- Operate in an advisory and advocacy capacity providing services specific to the social work discipline.
About You:
This role requires an applicant with high communication and collaboration skills. Also, requires applicant to be able to liaise with staff regarding Indigenous students and requirements for them at a social and academic level.
