Access theAbout Normanton State SchoolNormanton is 2,100km north-west of Brisbane, Normanton is a small community situated on the banks of the Norman River in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Primary industries are the mainstay of the area, along with tourism. Approximately 1,250 people live in Normanton and the surrounding areas.
The Traditional Custodians of the Normanton area are the Gkuthaarn, Kukatj, and Kurtijar peoples.About the RoleThe focus of the role is to provide support for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns based in Normanton, with opportunity to provide support to wider Gulf community. Wellbeing professionals employed through the Student Wellbeing Package work as part of schools' established student support teams to enhance the wellbeing and mental health support available to students. This is a dynamic, school-based role and there are opportunities to provide service through a tele-practice mode and flexibility to working arrangements. Some of the positions bring opportunity for travel and outreach to rural and remote settings to support our most vulnerable communities in the North Queensland region.As the Senior Social Worker, you will:

• Operate in an advisory and advocacy capacity providing professional services specific to the social work discipline.
• Respond to the needs of the student population and school community to provide personal and family counselling, therapy and group work, facilitation for referrals to other allied health professionals, and service and care coordination for the purpose of assisting student's wellbeing and mental health.
• Provide professional supervision, leadership and support to school Social Workers within the region to develop their capability and clinical skills.
