Job description

With a mission to empower individuals and strengthen communities, YMCA Queensland has been at the forefront of creating positive impact in the lives of people across the region since 1864.

The organisation offers a diverse range of community-focused programs and services including fitness and recreation, youth development initiatives, community outreach efforts and education services catering to individuals from early learning through to high school graduation.

Committed to inclusivity, diversity and social responsibility, YMCA Queensland is a dynamic force for positive change.

Driven by our core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility, we believe in creating a workplace culture that reflects these principles, fostering an environment where individuals can thrive personally and professionally.

YMCA Queensland is seeking a passionate and experienced Wellbeing Case Worker to join our Y Schools team based at Acacia Ridge Junior Campus.

This is a permanent full-time position reporting to our Senior Practitioner, Wellbeing.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a key member of our school community, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive, engaging and inclusive environment, ensuring that students receive individualised and comprehensive support.

Based on best-practice in trauma-informed education, Y Schools’ Thrive is our evidence-based approach to the development of flourishing mental wellbeing and self-efficacy in young people; your team-based approach and expertise will lend to further developing the wellbeing capabilities of the wider team through the creation of resources that integrate its principles into daily practice.

This will be achieved through the delivery and design of:

  • Preventative and early intervention programs that support students’ emotional and social development, as well as reduce their often complex barriers towards education – this pivotal aspect of the role aims to foster positive outcomes in both the students and their immediate family members.
  • Assist in the collaborative development of Personal Education Plans alongside teaching and classroom support staff, employing strategies that appropriately combat cognitive, sensory and social/emotional challenges

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will be passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of students and align with our commitment to fostering well-being in an educational setting.

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, human services, behavioural sciences or equivalent
  • Highly developed skills and experience in working with young people to provide individualised support that enables students to improve their social, emotional, academic and vocational capacities
  • Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based assessment and support for young people experiencing difficulties related to mental health and/or disability
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide high quality professional reports and case notes

WHY THE Y?

At YMCA Queensland, we offer you more than just a job; we promise you a purposeful and fulfilling career where together we create a brighter, healthier future for our communities. If you are passionate about making a difference, we encourage you to become a part of something inspiring.

In addition to working in a truly inclusive culture where diversity is celebrated, we also offer the following perks:

  • Add to your take-home pay with salary packaging of up to $15,900 per annum plus meal and entertainment salary packaging up to $2,600
  • Free YMCA gym membership with no additional cost to attend a wide range of classes, including yoga, boxing, HIIT and more!
  • Discounted rates at our childcare facilities, with a network of almost 60 centres across Queensland
  • How about a staycation? Receive discounted rates at the George Williams Hotel in Brisbane CBD
  • Enjoy discounted rates on selected healthcare through Medibank Private
  • Free online counselling sessions for employees and their immediate family through the Y’s Employee Assistance Program
  • Exclusive rates, discounts and lifestyle benefits through our Workplace Banking partnership with Commbank
  • Subsidised car parking when based at the Fortitude Valley office

HOW DO I APPLY?

Please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining why you are passionate about learning and development and how your skills align with the responsibilities of this role.
