At Amazon, a Systems Development Engineer is a software developer with strong distributed systems, OS, storage, or network administration skills, focused on making engineering and operational improvements via automation and tooling. They will work alongside our Software Development Engineers, helping them automate, deploy and scale applications that are vital in our day to day operations. Other companies may call people with these skills Site Reliability Engineers, DevOps Engineers, or Systems Administrators depending on how those organizations view these skills.
The AccSys team's mission is to deliver robust, highly available, and easy-to-use services to our internal customers across the global enterprise. We are looking for an engineer who is an expert in IT infrastructure technologies with a focus on Linux or Microsoft Windows Server, Object Oriented Development, Amazon Web Services, and assorted Third-Party applications. As a Systems Development Engineer you will help design and build the future of physical security systems infrastructure at Amazon while maintaining the current global infrastructure. To be successful in this position you must have a strong desire to automate, lead, and be comfortable taking initiative.
You will be responsible for designing, coding, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the critical systems that all Amazonians depend on. This also includes technical service ownership, system design, capacity planning, and handling on-call technical support. As one of the few teams running enterprise systems at Amazon there will be initiatives to create novel solutions to issues that no other company has solved yet.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience building services using AWS products
- Knowledge of a front-end language (Javascript, CSS, HTML, etc.)
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
