Salary range: $91,418 to $103,725 pa plus Super

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager Freedom of Information and Legal Compliance, the Solicitor will provide legal advice on a range of legal compliance matters and privacy issues. The Solicitor will support the compliance functions of the branch, including but not limited to: advising the Department of Health in relation to the discharge of its compliance obligations arising under legislation and policy; maintaining registers including sunsetting regulations; ensuring knowledge of, and advising legal colleagues in the Branch and program areas across the Department of Health, about legislative changes likely to effect the Department's operations and activities; providing advice on legislation and compliance activities; maintaining and updating delegations as required across the Department; drafting reports as required; and developing and implementing appropriate systems to ensure the Branch and Department have up to date knowledge of legislative changes likely to affect their area of responsibility and discharge all compliance obligations effectively and efficiently. The position will also support and review health service by laws as submitted to the department from time to time. In addition, the Solicitor will support the Branch's privacy function and be required to advise on privacy matters from time to time.
