In all aspects of our operations, we aim to role model and live by our values: Responsiveness, Integrity, Insight, Collaboration and Excellence.About the branchThe Litigation & Dispute Resolution Branch (LDR) provides specialist legal services to a large number of government clients and departments on matters which are topical and often involve public interest issues, such as:
  • General civil, police civil and tortious claims
  • State care, personal injury and negligence claims (including historical institutional abuse claims involving former minors and young persons in the care of the State)
  • Coronial investigations including inquests
  • Supervision order matters
  • Judicial review and statutory interpretation
  • Contempt of court, defamation, injunctions and vexatious litigant applications
About the roleWe are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated lawyer to join the branch as a Solicitor in the LDR Branch.The core focus of this role will be to provide legal services to one of our key clients, Corrections Victoria. The successful candidate will be required to efficiently manage complex and sensitive litigation and provide operational advice in relation to the Serious Offenders Act 2018. The successful candidate will also provide support to other streams of work undertaken by the branch.Skills and experience
  • Criminal law experience would be advantageous and will be highly regarded
  • The ability to review, manage and conduct complex and sensitive proceedings in state courts and tribunals, including a sound knowledge of relevant court practice and procedures
  • Proven ability to provide practical and client focused oral and written advice on complex and sensitive matters and carry out complex legal research and analysis
  • Good interpersonal communication skills to truly connect with team-members and work together to deliver exceptional results for our clients
  • Proven ability to effectively manage competing priorities, within a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • A strong focus on turnaround time and ability to work under pressure
