Rankin Ellison Lawyers is a successful insurance and personal services legal firm with offices in both Newcastle and Sydney. A position has arisen for an early career solicitor to join our Workers Compensation team in Sydney.
In this role you will work closely with Senior Legal Practitioners to provide prompt legal advice in relation to liability and permanent impairment disputes. The practice is a very diverse and fast paced, requiring short turnaround times and an ability to think quickly and diversely. Some knowledge of the Workers Compensation legislation, Civil Liability Act, and the Motor Accidents Injury Act would be a great advantage. About the Role
The responsibilities of this permanent full-time position include but are not limited to:
- Providing legal advice within strict and specified timeframes and adhering to service standards.
- Critically analysing medical and factual evidence.
- Ensuring accessibility to clients and maintaining open dialogue with employers and insurers regarding claims and developments.
- The ability to look at matters as a whole and implement and understand the differing challenges arising between an employer and insurer.
- Resolving matters on the best possible terms with a view to achieving timely and cost-effective outcomes for clients.
- Ensuring an optimal outcome is achieved for matters which proceed to Arbitration.
- Keeping up to date with legislative changes and monitoring significant Court decisions.
About You
- Prior exposure or experience in the area of Workers Compensation, preferably working for insurers in the Workers Compensation space.
- A current NSW practising certificate.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to clients, employers, insurers, and peers including support staff.
- Excellent attention to detail and outstanding analytical skills which will be backed up by strong legislative knowledge.
- The ability to work effectively in a team-based environment, as well as autonomously.
- A desire for continuous development.
- Dynamic, energetic, and highly motivated.
