Solution Architect

Service Stream’s Corporate division are currently seeking a Solution Architect to join our growing team. The primary purpose of the Solutions Architect position is to strategically design and implement information systems and networked software architectures that support core organisational functions and assure their high availability. This individual will gain organisational commitment for all technology and software plans, as well as evaluate and select all technologies required to complete those plans. In addition, the Solutions Architect provides technical leadership across the organisation, from strategic decision making down to the project planning
level.

Reporting Line: Head of IT Architecture

We are seeking an experienced and versatile Solution Architect with expertise in the application layer. An Expert with experience in roles such as Technical Solution Architect, Domain Architect, Software Engineer, and more to design, build, manage, and implement enterprise solutions across various domains. The role will focus on architecting solutions within the application layer across various functional areas such as Human Resources, Work Management, Project Management, Workforce Compliance, Finance, Health and Safety, Information Management, IT Infrastructure, Artefact Management, Commercial Management, and Supply Chain Management

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable, robust, and high-performing application architectures in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze business needs, and translate them into technical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, ensuring adherence to architectural standards and best practices. Update architecture data repository with current information and diagrams.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies, and incorporate them into architectural designs to drive innovation and optimize performance.
• Develop proof-of-concepts, prototypes, and architectural artifacts to validate and communicate design decisions.
• Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

About you:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Experience in diverse IT roles such as Technical Solution Architect, Domain Architect, Software Engineer, Enterprise Architect, Application Architect, and Senior Analyst Programmer.
• Strong knowledge and experience in the application layer, with proficiency in designing and implementing application architectures using modern technologies and frameworks.
• Proven track record of designing, building, and implementing enterprise solutions in infrastructure services business is favourable. 
• Experience with project management systems, data warehousing, and finance systems (e.g., stock ledger, general ledger, procurement, IFS/SAP/Oracle Financials) is favourable

Competencies required:

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to think strategically and propose innovative solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Certifications such as TOGAF or related certifications are highly desirable (Zachman, Business Architects).
• Proficiency in various technologies, such as Oracle databases, PostgreSQL, PL/SQL, SQL, Azure SQL Server, object-oriented design using UML and various languages is favourable.
• Familiarity with integration and data migration, ESB & MQ technologies (Boomi, Oracle), scripting languages (e.g., KSH, BASH, AWK, SED), networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP), programming languages (C, C++, Pro*C), and cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure) is favourable.
• It is not expected for candidates to possess all these requirements, a strong willingness to learn and a curious mindset are essential as the range of technologies and architectures is vast.
