Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate full-time Sous Chef to join the dynamic culinary team at the Art Gallery of NSW, due to an increase in business.

The role primarily consists of daytime shifts with Wednesday nights, with occasional other evening shifts as required.

Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will work for a successful, professional and highly regarded hospitality group, The Fresh Collective, who is the hospitality leader in Sydney’s and Brisbane iconic art’s venues, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art, Queensland Museum, Sydney Theatre Company and The Art Gallery of NSW.

Matt Moran is the brand ambassador of The Art Gallery of NSW, so you will also have the privilege of working closely with the Fresh/Matt Moran team to ensure a great dining experience.

The Role

  • Utilise your creativity in preparing exceptionally presented dishes, consistent in flavour and appearance
  • Working with a large company with multiple restaurants
  • Work closely with the Executive Chefs to further your cooking skills and techniques
  • Work with the Exec Chef to bring food and staff costs in online
  • Motivate and manage the kitchen brigade, ensuring speed of service for restaurant and function service
  • Follow all food safety procedures and legislation

About You

  • A motivated chef with a passion for creating excellent dishes
  • Hungry to move to the next level, and wanting to be the next Head Chef
  • Minimum 1 years' experience in a similar role, from busy restaurant and/or cafe
  • Function experience
  • Diploma Certified in Commercial Cookery and Food Safety
  • Punctual, self-driven and autonomous, whilst being open to direction and learning
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong work ethic
  • Impeccable communication skills
  • In possession of a valid Australian working visa
