- Shape and support the delivery of risk reduction and improvement initiatives linked to the annual and 5-year HSEC Strategic Plans
- Development of insights through data-driven approach leading to initiatives to protect our people and improve safety performance
- Support the development and maintenance of safety management systems including documentation to ensure compliance with RT Safety Standards and statutory requirements
- Collaborate closely with the Safety AoE, industry partners and stakeholders regarding best practice safety programs and management of risk
- Actively foster and communicate a positive safety culture to promote safety awareness and compliance
- Support professional activities for H&S personnel working in HSEC Operational Delivery teams (ie: community of practice)
- Work closely with our functional partners such Procurement, Capability & Development and Human Resources to support integration of safety into business processes.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, evaluating and implementing improvement opportunities utilising a range of Rio Tinto best practices
- Tertiary Qualification in Health and Safety or Certificate IV with >5 years technical experience
- Sound understanding of safety management systems and their practical application
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Effective communication, engagement and influencing skills
- Robust planning & organisation skills
- Managing change and leading through change
- Business improvement exposure or certification (practical problem solving, Kaizen)
- Exposure and knowledge to Human Organisational Performance
- 5-10 years Technical experience in Health and Safety
