Job Description

The Specialist Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE) is engaged in all transactional, scheduling and live-run execution activities to ensure on-time and on-specification customer cargo fulfilment.

The role actively works with stakeholders across our sites and the wider Anglo American business to optimise plans and schedules to maximise value from the entire Coal Chain, including blending and yield at one end, through to minimising cost of demurrage at the other.

This role will be rewarding, varied and will include:

• Delivery and execution of accurate, timely, holistic weekly short-term planning outputs across Anglo’s three major mining complexes to three ports which allow for –
  • Coal Washing including Stockpiling, Coal Quality and Blending
  • Rail and Port Capacity and Costs (incl. Demurrage)
  • Nominated vessel specification requirements
• Development of pro-active relationships with key Stakeholders in Production, Logistics Providers and Sales.
• Active involvement in setting the mine processing target orders
• Managenent of Rail and Port service provider performance to deliver plans and minimise logistics cost.
• Problem solving to resolve short term coal chain challenges such as stock-bound events, logistics outages, unexpected coal qualities and/or extended vessel wait times.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in a related field (such as Business Management or Engineering) will be highly regarded
• Demonstrated experience in managing activities throughout a marketing value chain to maximise the value of product delivery into the market, preferably in a bulk commodity environment
• Understanding of the coal production process, technical characteristics, market dynamics, commodity applications, our customers, their requirements and how we deliver value will be highly regarded
• Ability to develop and foster internal relationships with key stakeholders from a variety of business units and external suppliers
• A well developed understanding of financial concepts and risk management, specifically as it applies to the marketing value chain.
• Excellent negotiation and influencing skills used to build relationships to create optimal outcomes and deliver value.
• Strong understanding of the business environment and the mining industry operational frameworks including Coal Quality and Blending, Mine and CHPP operations, Rail and Port regulations
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to engage individuals at various levels of the business.
