Business Development - Assist Operations

Marschall Group is a privately owned company specializing General Freight and Bulk Grain Transport.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and suitably qualified in Business Development and Transport Operations. Across the company

Tasks & Responsibilities 

• Assist in managing the day to day operations of the depot.
• Recruit and train Operations Employees.
• Serve as a contact person for all workers within the Operations Department.
• Plan, organize and manage the work of subordinate staff and sub-contractors to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements.
• Maximizing growth and profitability
• Ensuring that high levels of service are maintained at all times.
• Schedule and implement policy and procedural changes.
• Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer complaints.
• Hold regular team meetings
• Liaise with key customers to ensure they are satisfied with the operational performance.
• Monitor Health & Safety within the operational department including depot and trucks on the road.
• Collaborate with other managers and staff members in order to formulate and implement policies, procedures and compliance regulations.
• Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings and meeting with individual staff members.
• Clean, Service and maintain equipment provided.
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
• Direct and Co-ordinate, through subordinates, activities of operations department in order to obtain use of equipment, facilities, and human resources.
• Monitor spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
• Recommend or authorize capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property in order to increase efficiency and services of operations department.
• Scheduling maintenance to ensure service, repairs and maintenance is conducted on fleet vehicles and trailers when required as per company scheduled maintenance guidelines.
• Direct activities of staff performing repairs and maintenance to equipment, vehicles and facilities.
• Maintain a neat dress code, company uniform to be worn at all times.

Requirements

• Previous experience in the General & Bulk Transport sector an advantage
• Possess leadership skills and the ability to work with a team
• Solid customer service attitude with exceptional negotiation skills
• Strong communication and team management skills
• Ability to build effective relationships whether internally or externally.
• Possess effective presentation skills
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
• IT skills; ability to use the computer and business-related applications.
• Ability to work under pressure and still produce results.
• Ability to meet Operational targets and KPI's
• Ability to be proactive and plan effectively.
• Management skills; ability to get people moving towards a specific task

• Previous experience in in a similar role within the transport industry (Team management, Operations, Scheduling and Allocating)
• Must be available to travel if required.
• Current MC license
• BFM Certificate an advantage
