About the Barwon Early Parenting Centre
Opening in the first half of 2024, the Barwon Early Parenting Centre will provide specialist support and deliver flexible, targeted services for families with children 0–4 years old.
The centre aims to enhance the parent-child relationship and support parents with strategies for achieving their parenting goals. These goals are often in areas such as sleep and settling, child behaviour, and parent and child health and wellbeing.
These goals are achieved through structured programs that vary from residential, day stay and in-home support. Programs include:
- psychosocial, physical and developmental assessments
- parenting education
- counselling
- skills development
- play-based activities
- modelling effective behaviours.
The Barwon Early Parenting Centre is located within the McKellar Centre precinct on Ballarat Road in North Geelong.

About the role
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of safe and high-quality Speech Pathology services within the Early Parenting Centre (EPC). This includes the development, leadership, and monitoring of flexible and responsive Speech Pathology services tailored to babies and young children (0-4 years old) at the EPC, all while adhering to evidence-based, client-centered care principles outlined in the Barwon Health Strategic Plan and relevant Service Plan(s).
The incumbent will collaborate effectively as an integral member of a high-performing inter-professional team, fostering teamwork and synergy to optimize patient outcomes. Additionally, they will provide clinical leadership, education, and expert consultancy to the inter-professional team and wider EPC, particularly in the area of paediatric feeding and communication.
