We are seeking a part-time (0.8 FTE) Grade 1 Speech Pathologist to backfill a 9 month parental leave term from the end of August 2024 and a casual Speech Pathologist.
The successful applicants will have the opportunity to take up an exciting hospital based acute and rehabilitation role, working across multiple wards in a newly established state of the art facility. The caseload is interesting and varied and covers inpatient and outpatient services at Calvary Adelaide Hospital. We are a small team of Speech Pathologists providing Communication and Swallowing assessment and interventions as part of a multi-disciplinary team, assisting patients to achieve their best health outcomes. The speech pathology team covers a roster that includes weekdays and Saturdays (6 day per week service).
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload within both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Participate in the multi-disciplinary management of patients through their healthcare journey
- Assist with the facilitation of clinical education of students
- Provide supervision and guidance to allied health assistants when required.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of high quality services, including participating in clinical and non-clinical quality activities as required.
- Maintain records of services provided
- Participate in professional development, with opportunities provided to share new learning with colleagues and students.
What you bring:
- Minimum of 12 months of experience in Speech Pathology assessment and interventions (desirable)
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic and patient focused
- Flexibility to work within the small Speech Pathology team and the larger Allied Health teams in Acute Care and Rehabilitation (inpatient and outpatient)
- Candidates must have a Bachelor Degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent qualification and be eligible for membership to Speech Pathology Australia
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant diseases, medical and neurological conditions and hospital presentations
- High quality communication and organisation skills
- Experience and interest in Quality Improvement and Service Development activities
