The Staff Accountant role is heavily involved in the month-end close process along with various other daily and weekly tasks supporting a large operational accounting organization in a fast paced environment. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, accounting for cash, prepaid expenses and various balance sheet reconciliations related to project accounting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Record daily bank activity and track undeposited funds for A/R teams.
- Reconcile credit card and other current liability account balances.
- Support A/R and A/P teams to ensure accurate accounting.
- Review GL coding including project level accounting assignments in the financial statements.
- Record prepaid expenses and amortization in accordance with accounting policies.
- Responsible for the monthly preparation of journal entries and other aspects of the monthly, quarterly and annual close process.
- Perform select account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Prepare audit schedules and assist during the annual audit process.

- Clear and concise written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
- Strong organizational skills: ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed-upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated; able to work independently to complete tasks, respond to department requests, and collaborate with others.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline preferred.
- 2+ years of general ledger accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
- GAAP accounting experience preferred.
- NetSuite ERP or other ERP experience strongly preferred.
