About the Opportunity

We are looking for a Stock Controller to to ensure the correct amount of stock is purchased and maintained to meet the demands of the Campbells customers, whilst maintaining safe and efficient stock-on-hand practices.

What you'll do

Manage inventory levels

  • Deliver Service Levels of greater than 98%
  • Leverage store specific purchase deals which complement and maximise National and State deals
  • Review and compare stock profits vs. budget forecasts
  • Ensure inventory levels comply with all promotional deals, promotional ends, programs and core range

Work within and encourage a safe and secure work environment

  • Ensure the timely reporting, escalation and investigation of SHE hazards and incidents
  • Continually monitor and evaluate SHE risks and the controls implemented for the management of those risks
  • Ensure the safety and integrity of stock storage systems and stock levels
  • Ensure the safe storage, separation, and segregation of dangerous goods
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Metcash SHE procedures and legislative requirements including but not limited to, WHS, Environmental, COR, Food Safety and HACCP regulations
  • Identify, coach and train a back-up to provide support to the Stock Control role to cover leave and ensure succession planning

Support Branch Operations

  • Inform the store leadership team of concerns relating to stock levels and recommend corrective actions
  • Undertake range reviews to control inventory levels and minimise shrinkage / ullage and monitor compliance, identifying lines for deletion and action deletions in conjunction with the Store Manager
  • Ensure stock control methods are implemented to minimise 'Out of Stock' rate and ensure consistency of supply while monitoring compliance
  • Monitor stock turns, cycle counts, date code checking and stock rotation compliance, identifying issues and recommending corrective actions
  • Liaise with supplier representatives to be acquainted with new product lines and promotions
  • Manage discontinued and aged stock clearance
  • Maintain knowledge of new to market products and products which meet customer demographic requirements and make recommendations to the Branch Manager

Ensure stock holdings are maintained within budget limitations

  • Monitor buy periods to ensure stock profit is maximised
  • Conduct daily store walks in conjunction with the store leadership team to ensure in stock position
  • Forecast large order requirements which may cause fulfilment issue and take action to communicate these orders to Logistics (DC) to ensure delivery
  • Participate in stock takes and manage control books
  • Manage allocation ordering
  • Communicate to internal stakeholders changes to ranges and offer alternatives

What you'll be

Experience

  • Experience with stock management systems and principles
  • Experience dealing with conflict and/or having difficult conversations
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships both internally and externally
  • Experience in interpreting workforce plans
  • Experience executing business/site plans

Organisational Knowledge

  • Broad understanding of the Metcash business (structure, pillars, standing in the industry, service and commercial model)
  • Understanding of Metcash systems and processes
  • Knowledge of warehousing operations and the functions involved; Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); FMCG, retail or warehousing knowledge
  • Understanding of Metcash safety policies; chain of responsibility for safety related incidents; OHS/WC/COR and HACCP safety compliance and injury management.
  • Metcash code of conduct and employment policies; process and procedure for conflict management
  • Site specific process knowledge
  • Knowledge of DIFOT

Technical Knowledge

  • Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of inventory management
  • Understanding of supply chain trends and practice
  • Knowledge of supply chain process
  • Knowledge of 3PL and 4PL transport providers
  • Mental health and/or first aid
