An exciting opportunity has become available in our Planning Services team for a Strategic Planning Officer on a fixed-term full-time basis (ending 30 April 2027).
In this role, the successful applicant will work to with facilitating Strategic Urban Planning for the City of Subiaco in accordance with the applicable planning framework and the City’s future vision. Additionally, the position will assist the Strategic Planning team to deliver a suite of contemporary and best practice planning documents to encourage sustainable development of the City. It will also uphold and consistently demonstrate the City's values of Respect, Integrity, Customer Service and Team Work.
The key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the preparation of major planning studies that are of strategic significance to the future development of the built environment of the City.
- Undertake investigations and reports including research and surveys on town planning matters.
- Collaborate with other officers on cross-functional projects.
- Assist the Manager Planning Services in the administration of the provisions of the local planning scheme and planning policies.
- Work with State and other agencies to provide input into Strategic Planning projects.
- Prepare and review reports for consideration by Council.
- Maintain and update the City’s town planning statutory instruments in accordance with statutory obligations, operational procedures and City’s policies.
- Assist the Manager Planning Services in the preparation of reports, correspondence and other documents.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated understanding of current State Government planning and related legislation, policies and procedures
- Demonstrated understanding of how the state planning framework relates to the local planning context.
- Knowledge of processes relating to policy development
- Sound Knowledge of Statutory Planning and Development Control Process.
- Knowledge of local planning scheme amendment procedures.
- Highly developed verbal and written communications skills.
- Completed tertiary qualifications in planning or other related discipline

Salary Range: $91,880 to $99,230 plus 11% employer superannuation and additional co-contribution to your superannuation.
