A fantastic opportunity exists to join St Augustine's College as our Student Wellbeing Officer!
Within this role, you will provide a range of support, welfare, intervention services and programs. The Student Wellbeing Officer works closely and collaboratively to support the Community and Wellbeing Leaders to plan programs and processes to better support the students, their families and community.
The Student Wellbeing Officer is a member of the Wellbeing Team and will respond initially and appropriately to students at risk of disengagement from education, which may be a result of study difficulties but also mental health, life, relationship, financial or welfare difficulties.
We have ongoing and fixed term contracts available.
About You:
- A Bachelor degree in social work or similar is preferred however qualifications in Youth work, community services and counselling will be considered.;
- Demonstrated experience in working to provide counselling, welfare, youth work or similar professional or educational support roles to vulnerable student groups, including the ability to provide individual support and liaison on their behalf
- Ability to provide timely and effective intervention in critical situations and to provide appropriate support and referral/s to students presenting with complex mental health and/or welfare concerns
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with legislative requirements and consult with the Wellbeing Team
- Capacity to deal confidently and courteously with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds, and a commitment to providing a high level of care in a student support role
- High standard of verbal and written communication and demonstrates high-level awareness of, and responsiveness to, people from a broad range of diverse backgrounds and cultural contexts, is able to shape responses for people, and see issues from the perspective of others
- Capacity to work well under pressure with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and accommodate flexible hours
