Reporting to the Manager Health & Safety for the Central mining team, this is a unique opportunity to apply your H&S leadership skills and experience within a professional and diverse team across the mining supply chain supporting operations such as Yandi, Yarrie, Mining Area C and South Flank. This role is available as a FIFO role on a 5/2,4/3 roster and will be offered on a fixed term arrangement and secondment for internal employees.
The Health and Safety Superintendent provides leadership to a team or teams focused on the operational execution of health, safety, security, safety, emergency management service and operational related issues, processes, provisions and initiatives. Coaches and develops team leaders and stakeholders to deliver high performance.
- Provide leadership for a team of high performing and capable H&S professionals providing support to operational site leadership teams, and be an active contributor to the H&S Leadership team across the WAIO Mines.
- Contribute the ongoing development of excellent team culture.
- Build capability within the operational leaders to enable them to create the desired health, safety and environment culture, and enact their H&S risk management and compliance requirements.
- Identify, prioritise and implement required H&S strategies and initiates to support successful operational outcomes.
- Support the site implementation of relevant H&S Business Plan initiatives.
- Support the implementation of BHP Operating System (BOS) within the operational teams and the integration of key H&S elements within the operation's BOS routines to achieve H&S KPIs for the operation, function and Asset.
- Govern and maintain the design and implementation of H&S standards, procedures and systems.
- Drive continuous improvement of the four safety basics across the operation.
- Ensure provision of technical expertise and deliverables of health, hygiene, security & emergency management and safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with other H&S teams to improve H&S delivery and risk management across the asset.

- An advanced understanding of BHP H&S standards and systems, as well relevant legislation.
- Formal qualifications and/or equivalent experience in health and safety or related discipline such as science or business.
- Greater than 5-10 years' experience within the mining and resource sector or equivalent.
