i’ara is the largest Specialist Support Coordination organisation in North Queensland with over 40 Specialist Support Coordinators scattered throughout the region. We support people from Mackay to the Torres Strait Islands, with offices located in Atherton, Cairns, Townsville, Airlie Beach and Mackay.
About the Role: Support Coordinator - Cairns and surrounds

****All training is provided. Industry experience and/or transferrable skills are favourable but not necessary. We are seeking locals who have a genuine passion for helping others and who are keen to grow their skills in a fun, proactive team environment.*****
In this role you will provide Support Coordination services to NDIS & NIISQ participants in Cairns, helping them to connect to and coordinate informal, mainstream and funded supports in a complex service delivery environment.
- Working collaboratively with our clients and stakeholders to identify and implement supports, resolve points of crisis, build skills of self-management and resilience in a client's community network.
- Providing exceptional customer service – active listening, proactive attitude, a warm smile with a person-centred approach.
- Develop, maintain and facilitate positive relationships with clients and their representatives, internal and external stakeholders, key personnel within the NDIS, NIISQ and other government agencies by initiating and facilitating family and provider meetings.
- Maintain high attention to detail in complex report writing, case notes and administrative requirements.
- Monitor and manage the quality and spend of participant services and funding.
- Work collaboratively with our Hospital to Home (H2H) team to assist in the growth of the Hospital/Aged Care to Home program in Townsville through securing new referrals and other business development opportunities.
Must haves:
- Strong computer skills, in Microsoft applications and Client Management Systems
- Valid Drivers License, Blue Card, NDIS Workers Screening Card
- Strong time management and organisational skills, with ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment
- Proven experience building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
- Flexibility to attend Face to Face meetings with clients in both home and hospital environments
- Strong communications skills both verbal and written
Favourable attributes, but not essential:
- Experience in a case management role working with people in the human/community services sector.
- Demonstrated ability to operate within legislative guidelines, procedures and policies
- Work experience / knowledge of the local hospital system
- Knowledge of the NDIS / NIISQ and pathways to supporting a participant via support coordination
- Lived and/or learnt experience of mental illness, disability and/or complex trauma backgrounds
- Experience and understanding of relevant mainstream and community support services;
