About the role -
As a dynamic and innovative member of our school community, in collaboration with students, parents, teachers, leaders and allied health professionals, you will support students across the full range of abilities and needs, to meet specific learning needs. In particular you will: 

  • Design and implement inclusive and effective teaching and learning strategies to engage and improve education outcomes of supported students
  • Collaborate with your peers to develop and implement quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy
  • Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
  • Work with the school leadership team and colleagues to contribute to the professional life of the school
  • Proactively engage with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes aligned to The Alice Springs (Mparntwe) goals for young Australians
  • Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching. 

About you - To be successful in this role you will bring relevant qualifications and contemporary teaching experience as well as the ability to demonstrate:
  • A strong knowledge of Inclusive Education practices and a clear understanding of the Australian Curriculum
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven capacity to work as part of a team
  • Involvement with BCE Strategies and practices which influence student progress and achievement
  • An ability to oversee and deliver a range of mapping and planning functions to support Inclusive Education practices
  • An ability to attend to innovative and creative teaching practices
  • A willingness to share knowledge and skills through professional development, consultation and advice.
  • Experience in implementing Individual Curriculum Plans (ICPs) and a proven ability to oversee and deliver a range of processes, including enrolment transitions, and mapping and planning functions to support Inclusive Education practices
  • Demonstrated competence against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers across professional knowledge, practice and engagement.
  • Know and understand the Disability Discrimination Act and apply Disability Standards for Education
  • Demonstrated application of the NCCD model as part of a whole-school approach to supporting students with a disability
  • Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to achieve the best outcomes
  • Commitment to child safety. 

At BCE our teachers are required to:
  • Hold a current Queensland College of Teachers registration; and
  • Be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

About our school:

Saint Mary's Catholic College is a Prep to Year 12College offering families a co-educational pathway to life-long learning. The College has been proudly serving the families of the South Burnett region since 1990, following the amalgamation of the St Mary's Parish Primary and Secondary Schools. It has a current enrolment of approximately 350 students. The College has a master planned school campus environment along with a vision for education in a contemporary world.

Surrounded by picturesque countryside, Kingaroy is a wine-growing region, only 2½ hours drive north-west of Brisbane. As the central town of the South Burnett region, Kingaroy offers services, shopping facilities, recreational clubs and industries expected in much larger towns. Whats in it for you? Do I have to be Catholic?
All BCE teachers must have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education. If this role does not require you to teach Religious Education, you do not need to be Catholic.

Our teachers of Religious Education are required to be Catholic and attain Accreditation to teach Religion in a Catholic school. Not accredited to teach in a Catholic school yet? That’s okay, BCE will support you to achieve this through your professional development after you start with us.
