Job description

From 3 October 2022, Department of Education has joined with colleagues in the Department of Communities to form the Department for Education, Children and Young People.
This is a Department built entirely for children and young people and their communities. Our ultimate goal is to work together to ensure that every child and young person in Tasmania is known, safe, well and learning.
The child is at the centre of everything we do and the way we do it.
In the short term, you may still see references to Department of Communities and Department of Education as we transition. We are working together to build our strategy and our culture and values. This work will be continuing into 2023, and we want all staff to be involved in this.
It's an important time to join a dynamic new department.
The Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) will from time to time require the services of employees for specified fixed-Term and Relief basis in a number of skill areas and disciplines. Such appointments fill a valuable role in complementing the existing permanent workforce.
Conditions of Employment

  • Salary: $55,407 to $57,805 pro rata, per annum + 11% Superannuation
  • Classification: Health Services Officers, Level 4
  • Award/Agreement: Health and Human Services (Tasmanian State Service) Award
  • Location: Statewide
  • Hours of Work: Fixed-term Full time and Fixed-term Part-time for periods of up to 12 months
Please note: The Register is reviewed on a regular, as required basis, for suitability against the duties. You will be notified of the outcome of your suitability and contacted should a fixed-term vacancy arise. Registers are NOT a vacancy, they are used to fill short, urgent, fixed-term vacancies to ensure business continuity. Suitability does NOT guarantee any offer of employment will be made. This Register does not preclude other Support Worker positions from being advertised.
