Thales have an exciting career opportunity for an experienced System Safety and ILS Engineer to join the Digital Systems team. The System Safety and ILS Engineer will be responsible for performing the Safety and ILS analysis, technical studies, design tasks, systems integration, verification and engineering support activities to provide new and upgraded systems for THALES projects and bids. The position will cover the Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and System Safety Engineering elements of development and support of a product or system.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities are split across Safety Engineering activities (50%) and ILS tasks (50%). The main key areas of responsibility are:
- Identify and implement RAM and Safety Assurance processes in accordance with the regulatory requirements and Thales processes
- Production of RAM and Safety artefacts and deliverables
- Responsible for participation in preparation and costing of relevant parts of Commercial proposals, bids
- Reliability, Availability and Maintainability Analysis (RAM) & Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
- Conduct RAM analysis using Parts Counts Assessments and Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs).
- Logistic Support Analysis, Level of Repair Analysis, Maintenance Task Analysis, Life Cycle Cost Analysis, Spares modelling and Obsolescence Studies
- Provide RAMTS studies, Life Cycle Cost Modelling, Defect Report and Corrective Action System and ensures the required levels are reached according to customer requirements and Thales needs.
- Provide support to Projects in Logistics Engineering activities particularly in system modelling and engineering issues including contractual Logistic Engineering deliverables
- Engage in the derivation of RAM and Safety related requirements and in Verifying and Validating them through relevant project lifecycle stages.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholder and respond to technical and non-technical matters concerning RAM and Safety Assurance.
- Validates the availability of the Product Life Supply Chain. Validates the initial list of spare parts and ensures the obsolescence management plan is validated.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Engineering Degree or similar.
- At least 5 years' professional experience as a Safety Assurance Engineer and ILS Engineer
- A high level of interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
- Experience in leading technical teams.
- Experience working with military engineering standards and procedures.
- Experience in System Safety Plan development, Safety Case Report authoring
- Demonstrated experience undertaking quantitative and qualitative analyses including as Fault Tree Analysis, Goal Structuring Notation (GSN), Event Tree Analysis and ALARP/SFAIRP demonstration;
- Experience in performing RAM, LCC, LSA and sparing analysis for complex systems.
- Demonstrated ability in the application of safety-related standards
- Experience in conducting meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders
