Systems Accountant

Flight Centre Travel Group are seeking an experienced Systems Accountant to join a dynamic and established tech-focused division of our company, with flexible/hybrid work options available. 

You will be joining a team that specializes in providing affordable flight options to our customers through partnerships with flight search engines such as Google Flights, Skyscanner & Kayak. We are in an exciting growth period and are looking to attract team members who are passionate about their own growth and expanding the reach of the brand globally.

This role offers considerable flexibility, with a mixture of work from home/work from the office hours available. Our Gold Coast office is centrally located in Broadbeach.

What you'll do

• Finance Process Creation and Improvement
  • Consult with the finance team and various stakeholders to identify and analyse pain points
  • Continuously identify and execute value-add projects.
  • Provide actionable ideas to build or refine finance processes.
  • Design and execute plans to enhance efficiency, streamline operations and reduce costs.
  • Optimize reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency and compliance.
  • Manage and improve the integrity of data used to perform reconciliations.
  • Educate and provide ongoing support to process users
  • Oversees the development of financial accounting systems required to maintain reporting requirements.
  • Establishes procedures that affect multiple disciplines
  • Ensure established and updated processes are in compliance with company policies, relevant accounting standards and FCL minimum standards for financial systems and processes.
• Business projects
  • Finance Lead within our project team, ensuring delivery of requirements and expectations.
  • Developing and managing project plans
  • Managing all aspects of projects execution, in alignment with approved project plans and strategic business goals.

Your skills and qualifications

• 4+ years' experience in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or similar. 
• 2+ years’ experience in Automation projects
• Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, preferably familiar with Power Query Editor
• SQL or Python experience preferable, but not required.
• Ability to problem solve, critically analyse data, and articulate potential solutions
• Demonstrated experience in challenging existing processes and behaviours
• Continuous improvement mindset and the drive to enhance the end-to-end process
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to develop relationships at all levels.
• Proven teamwork skills.
• High degree of flexibility and ability to deal with change, growth and fast paced environments
