IBM AIX based env, complex IT org, implementing and maintaining in an on prem DC env, core database systems admin
The OrganisationSonic IT provides insourced technical resources and solutions to the Sonic Healthcare Group. They employ some 400 people across IT Infrastructure, Applications Development, Cyber and Web Security, Service Delivery, Governance Risk & Compliance and Product Development.
The Opportunity
As the Systems Administrator – AIX Engineer, you’ll manage the IBM Power AIX environment implementing, maintaining and improving on-prem Data Centres. Providing engineering and BAU support to AIX based applications, you’ll work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including vendors in internal IT services groups.
This role will:
- Manage monitor and enhance the performance of AIX based applications
- Plan and implement new physical and virtualised systems
- Engage in upgrades, patching and refresh programs (hardware, software, apps)
- Operate and improve backup and disaster recovery procedures
- Improve and consolidate the SOE approach to AIX system management
- Liaise with vendors and service providers to ensure systems optimisation
- Operate with best practice approach to security
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Experience working in a complex IT environment
- Min 5 years in administering IBM AIX operating and storage systems
- Extensive experience with IBM Power Platforms
- Experience in configuration and management of IBM AIX based servers and storage within a virtualised environment
- Experience in scripting (python, bash, ksh, perl windows batch scripting)
- Experience with DevOps automation tools
- Experience in managing operating systems running databases
- Tertiary Qualifications in ICT discipline
