The Systems/Data Specialist role has responsibility to ensure that all Finance Systems:
- Have accurate data flows from source systems (Run)
- Have appropriate controls in place to ensure the accuracy of the data (Run)
- Have change implemented effectively and efficiently (change)
- Are supported from a technical perspective
- And; are able to have configuration changes implemented in a controlled and systematic manner
This is a specialist role and acts as an interface between the Finance team, Mercer Technology, Project Teams.
The Systems/Data Specialist will have expertise in the areas of Accounting, Superannuation and Technology (Applications, Database knowledge etc.)
The Systems/Data Specialist will provide analysis, advice and high-level technical support on specific finance systems and processes to internal Mercer stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the team on relationships and interaction between IT and Finance to ensure Finance’s IT Strategic Objectives are achieved. Support the ongoing Finance Operations Support Model in-conjunction with Mercer Technology
- Support the Systems Accounting Team to be a focal point for advice on all finance system issues and be the point of contact between Finance and IT, i.e. Oracle Fusion, Enterprise Data Warehouse, Admin System changes
- Support the administration identification of: Ongoing improvement of the Group’s Financial Management Systems, including but not limited to Oracle Fusion, Trintech, FDMS and Design and implementation of accounting and financial systems and processes
- Provide high level technical support for the administration of GL including the chart of accounts, enterprise data warehouse, including member admin system interfaces
- Manage, prioritise and closed all JIRA issues raised by both Mercer Technology and the Finance teams
- Provide guidance to the Finance Operations teams with any technical Finance System (incl. Oracle but not limited to) interface issues
- Perform business analysis tasks to identify opportunities and resolve issues within the accounting and finance division
- Enhance the ability to extract information from Oracle Fusion using various reporting tools i.e. Smart View, OTBI, Finance Statement Generator, etc.
- Use BI tools to provide analytics and insights to support and drive business decisions and performance
- Develop and maintain: Accounting Documentation related to mapping tables for Administration Systems, Oracle Fusion and other finance systems and update and manage documentation relating to the dataflows from all source systems into Finance Systems.
- Providing input on the high level strategic direction of the Accounting IT environment extending to the GL, enterprise data warehouse & all source system interfaces
- Act as key support and advice in the management of system upgrades and testing
- In consultation with business users, plan and implement changes to the GL in the areas of Chart of Account, configuration and general reporting
- Assist and support the Management Team with the finance system issues, projects etc. 40%
- Provide support and assistance to the Accounting Policy and Risk Lead in discrete ad hoc tasks for projects, control frameworks, Incident and risk management, as required, ensuring the team's key deliverables are effectively covered. Planning and tracking of deliverables and addressing risks and controls to associated processes.
What you need to have:
- CPA/ CA qualified or equivalent qualifications
- Extensive experience with accounting packages, including the use of reporting tools to extract financial data (Experience with Oracle Financial/Fusion an advantage)
- Demonstrated understanding of the interaction between source systems and GL
- Working knowledge of Superannuation Administrations systems an advantage
- Functional SQL skills an advantage
- Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills including negotiating and influencing and
- Well-developed skills in report writing, problem solving and analysis
- Computer literacy skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to prioritise and control workload arising from a broad user base
- Ability to work constructively in a team environment
- Strong customer focus and commitment to the provision of quality services
