Role purpose
The Tax Accountant assists the Group Tax Manager with the management of IDP’s tax compliance, preparation of various Australian tax returns and assistance with review of overseas tax returns.
Key accountabilities
Australian Tax Compliance
Assist with the preparation of Australian income tax return annually.
Preparation of GST returns monthly
Preparation of Australian Fringe Benefits Tax return annually
Tax Effect Accounting/ Tax Reporting
Prepare monthly tax calculations for IDP Consolidated Group, including review of network monthly tax calculations
Review tax disclosures and tax computations in relation to network local financial statements
Provide support to Financial Accounting to ensure local financial statements are completed on time
Withholding Tax
Review WHT calculations and collate necessary documentation for claiming Foreign Income Tax Offset
Advisory
Provide routine Australian tax accounting and tax compliance advice to financial accountants and accounts payable/receivable as required
Assist with compliance improvement projects as required
Required experience
Essential Requirements
- 2+ years tax compliance experience in a corporate environment or Big 4 Chartered Accounting firm
- Sound understanding of Australian tax legislation
- Accounting / Commerce degree
- Strong tax effect accounting skills
- Sound analytical and excel skills
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Ability to cope with changing priorities and be flexible
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines
Desirable Requirements
- Ability to work and contribute productively in a team (specialist tax team and cross-functional)
- Previous experience using Oracle accounting system
