Exmouth District High School (DHS) is seeking a vibrant, innovative, and dedicated Arts Teacher who is culturally responsive and aware, willing to embed high-quality teaching and learning into their classroom practices, while value-adding to our existing programs.

About the role

As a Teacher of the Arts, you will be responsible for developing and delivering an engaging arts program aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum. Your role will involve fostering creativity, critical thinking, and expression through various art contexts while creating an inclusive learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of our students.

For this role, the applicant will be required to teach from years 5 to 12 although you may also be required to teach in Years 1 to 6. You should also have an understanding of how to differentiate your teaching to meet the needs of a diverse range of students in your classes and utilise your knowledge and teaching experience to encourage and support our students to achieve outstanding results.

Exmouth DHS is dedicated to ensuring a seamless educational experience for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our commitment is reflected in our school-wide BEACON instructional model, which is closely aligned with high-impact teaching strategies. We are seeking an applicant who demonstrates a strong commitment to implementing our BEACON model and high-impact teaching strategies in their classroom. This includes a proactive approach to integrating these methods into lesson planning, delivery, and student engagement to ensure the continued success and growth of our students across all grade levels.

The successful applicant will possess an interpersonal skill set that enables them to build genuine relationships with students, staff, and parents, and demonstrate strategies that improve student engagement, leading to positive student outcomes in and out of the classroom. They will collaborate with colleagues to integrate arts education across other subject areas, organize extracurricular arts activities and events, and assess student progress to provide constructive feedback for their growth and development.

Our school

Exmouth DHS is a proudly Independent Public School with approximately 524 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. We are committed to providing the best possible education for the children of our community and are charged with preparing our students for a diverse range of futures. Successful applicants would join a team of 40 teaching staff and 25 support staff.

Exmouth is a coastal community of situated in the remote Northwest of Western Australia.

Located about 1250km north of Perth, 850km north of the large regional city of Geraldton and 550km southwest of the Pilbara mining operations in Karratha, we are surrounded by Cape Range National Park and are the gateway to the unique Ningaloo Reef, recently listed as a World Heritage site. There is a permanent population of approximately 3,500 people which swells to thousands more during peak tourist periods. Due to the number of tourists visiting Exmouth the town has many amenities which would not normally be expected in a town of its size.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

• Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
• Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
• Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
• complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
• Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
• Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
• Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
