The Role

We have an exciting permanent full-time opportunity available to join our Western Queensland Education Delivery Team in Engineering TAFE Queensland’s Roma Campus.

As a TAFE Teacher in Engineering, you have the opportunity to influence the careers of future industry persons by sharing your extensive industry knowledge to students in a classroom or other educational setting.

This position reports to the Manager, Western Queensland.

Salary

The salary range for a TAFE Teacher is $86,564 - $113,971 (gross) per annum, depending on educational qualifications held and teaching experience.

Mandatory RequirementsApplicants must possess MEM30319 Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade and/or MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent, and the following:
  • current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
  • current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided;
  • evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment;
  • current Queensland Driver’s license.
Additionally, to become a TAFE Teacher, you must hold one of the following training and assessment credentials:
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
  • TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills (or TAELLN401A) and TAEASS502 Design and Develop Assessment Tools (or TAESS502A or TAEASS502B); or
  • TAE50111 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training; or
  • TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or its successor; or
  • TAE50211 Diploma of Training Design and Development; or
  • TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development or its successor; or
  • A higher-level qualification in adult education (approved by TAFE Queensland).
Note: Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview.

Highly Desirable

Candidates Who Possess The Following Will Be Highly Regarded

  • AS 1796 Welding Certification – 3E/4/7/8F/8G/9;
  • AS 2214 Welding Supervisor;
  • Diploma of Engineering, Applied Technologies or similar;
  • Certificate IV in Manufacturing Technology;
  • Interest and/or industry experience in Advanced manufacturing, Robotics, CAD & CAM;
  • High level of digital literacy skills across various platforms (online Learning Management Systems).
How You Will Be AssessedThe ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
  • Possess skills and knowledge of national training packages and accredited courses to support competency development and the ability to respond positively to industry and individual needs.
  • Demonstrate capacity for best practice in the management of teaching and learning activities including the development of industry relevant, flexible, innovative, technology enhanced learning options, training products and solutions.
  • Demonstrate capacity for initiative, self-management, teamwork and sustainable practice, with the ability to accept, promote and manage change through the use of well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate commitment to self-development with the focus on maintaining skills contemporary industry and teaching practices and the use of educational technologies and Learning Management Systems to support learning.
  • Possess sound knowledge of safe, equitable and anti-discriminatory work practices and demonstrate ability to be flexible, inclusive, responsive and deliver quality student experience.
