Jerramungup District High School (DHS) is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Teacher – English - Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS).

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Jerramungup District High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an of $7,000.00 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
About the role
The successful applicant will ideally enable positive outcomes using innovative teaching and learning strategies, incorporating relevant information technology to engage students. They will also ideally possess a high level of community engagement and understand how to build positive relationships with students, staff, families, the wider community, and external agencies.
Strong behaviour management and organisational skills that lead to a supportive and safe learning environment would be highly regarded. The Teacher – English - HASS should be energetic, enthusiastic, and display a wide repertoire of teaching strategies that embrace the differentiation of the Western Australian Curriculum. Jerramungup DHS is located in the wheat and sheep farming community of Jerramungup, 440km south-east of Perth. It is situated within the Fitzgerald Biosphere which is part of the acclaimed Fitzgerald National Park, located nearby to the east of Jerramungup.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • meet the Department of Education
requirements; * complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
