You may be deployed on short notice and on occasion, may be asked to work outside of your area of qualification for short periods. While you are employed on your two-year contract you will be have a ‘base’ school in the metropolitan area, or large regional area, depending on your circumstances and preferences. As you may need to be appointed to a vacancy on short notice, you will not have your own class at your base school or be part of the regular timetable. Instead, you will provide internal relief, or additional support at your base school. You will only work at your base school, subject to negotiation between the Flying Squad and base school principal, if you are not required for Flying Squad appointment at that time.Travel and accommodation are included during your deployments to regional areas. Due to the nature of the short-term accommodation provided, it is extremely unlikely that pets can travel alongside you to each location. Is this right for me?Our Flying Squad teachers have success where they can quickly and readily develop positive relationships with students, have a strong curriculum knowledge, and use effective classroom management strategies.Your approach will be flexible and adaptive, with a practical mindset; someone who can ‘think on their feet’.
