This is a ten (10) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024
Cannington Community College (CC) is seeking is a team-oriented, highly collaborative Primary Teacher who can work in a group setting.
Cannington CC provides a dynamic work and learning environment delivering responsive and inclusive education to a diverse community. The College is an urban Kindergarten to Year 10 school approximately 8 kilometres from the Perth CBD. Our College is unique!
Cannington CC is growing and undergoing significant renewal over the next few years, with the development of new pedagogies and new ways of working together. We are collaboratively developing a vision for the future of Cannington, and together with the City of Canning, Cannington Community Education Support Centre and Sevenoaks Senior College, we are engaging with the redevelopment of the inner-city area. Good things are happening.

Cannington CC has a data-literate culture where we use effective systems to monitor and interpret data to inform future planning. Your teaching should prioritise the reflective use of data and embed differentiation to support all students, utilising ongoing formative assessment to provide feedback, measure progress, and differentiate instruction.
The College is a culturally, linguistically, and academically diverse community. We are seeking culturally responsive staff who can cater to students with additional needs and have understanding and experience in Students at Educational Risk (SAER) and English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD).
Developing the whole student is a priority for our staff. We balance curriculum delivery with social and emotional learning and physical health and wellbeing. We utilise Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to set high expectations for our learning environment, ensuring all students are safe and accountable. We seek lifelong learners, reflective practitioners and those with a growth mindset to work within our professional learning community.
The desired applicant will ideally be open-minded, willing to embrace change and move with the times, have strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, and be solutions focused. We are looking for staff who will build positive relationships with families by communicating effectively and engaging parents as partners in their child’s educational journey.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • meet the Department of Education
requirements; * complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
