Teacher, $78,397 - $113,568 per annum (SEA GA 2021)

Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/TCH887760

This is a permanent part-time (0.4FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2024

Poseidon Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Music Teacher to join their teaching team.

The successful applicant will ideally provide a high quality and engaging, contemporary music education for students in Early Childhood to Year Six. Applicants with highly developed skills and experience in teaching Music, are encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant should engage a wide range of students in enthusiastic participation of the music program using their understanding of musical performance and education. It is highly desirable that the successful applicant can build positive relationships with a diverse school community and possess a proactive approach to behaviour management. As a specialist Teacher of Music, you will be an integral part of our teaching team and contribute to the promotion of the school within the wider community.

Step through the front door of Poseidon PS and you can feel the sense of belonging, the sense of family. Described as 'a city school with a country feel', Poseidon PS is an innovative school with a harmonious, caring environment built on strong relationships. Our size means we offer a diverse range of programs but can also really get to know our students and our families.

Our vision 'Creating Opportunities Together' and our purpose statement 'To provide a learning environment that facilitates the academic, social and personal growth of all children in the school' reflect the holistic view the school community embraces towards education.

We have an agreed set of values, a school vision, and a school-wide teaching methodology. The combination of these three components provide the school community with both the direction and structure necessary to provide our students with the knowledge, understanding and skills to be successful in our twenty first century society.

Our teachers know and understand their students, both individually and as a class. They work hard to build respectful, trusting relationships with our families, making our parents partners in their child's education. Our proud parent body is friendly and welcoming, with dedicated volunteers organising events, fundraisers, busy bees and out of school activities, bringing the school community together. Our fantastic students themselves make our school great, taking care of each other, encouraging, listening and helping. We are all proud to be a part of The Poseidon Family.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

Applications will be assessed against these domains. The business needs of the school may also be considered. It is therefore recommended that you consider all information contained in the advertisement and any other related information before applying for the vacancy.
